European sanctions against russia
How to deal with them in a rightful and efficient manner

GLOBAL OBJECTIVE OF THE SEMINARS

Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine has led the EU to take an increasing number of direct and indirect sanctions and legal measures against individuals, companies and public administrations supporting the Russian invasion.

Most of the sanctions are rightfully applied. However, in certain circumstances, sanctions can affect European companies that deserve to pursue their activity provided they are separated from their sanctioned Russian owners.

On the other hand, sanction measures sometimes block funds unnecessarily in respect of the objective of the legislation, and can, in specific but limited circumstances be de-freezed.

Finally the last package of legal measures adopted by the EU has organized a complete system aiming at protecting European businesses against foreign claims of compensation

The seminars organized by Legitech and Anthemis aims at:

  • presenting the practical side (and the limits) of the procedures allowing the re-organization of European companies owned by Russian sanctioned persons/ entities
  • as well as explaining the defreezing procedures for assets blocked in Belgium and Luxemburg;
  • and, defining the changing legal perspective created by the latest EU measures adopted to protect Member States and businesses against procedures of compensation introduced by sanctioned individuals, Russian administrative bodies and companies.
